Abstract:
A low-cost alternative to the photolog laser videodisc (PLV) retrieval station is described. A video-overlay-board-based PLV viewing system or mini-PLV provides virtually the same functionality and acceptable image resolution for all applications described previously with the pavement rating. Not only does the mini-PLV lower hardware costs by almost two-thirds, from $31,000 to $11,000, but it also significantly reduces the system footprint, thereby providing a true desktop image-retrieval system.
