Abstract:

These remarks examine the details of trying to fit major investment studies (MISs) in transportation into the planning process and the relationship of the MIS to the regional transportation plan (RTP). It is pointed out that in the Dallas-Fort Worth area the RTP cannot be separated from the MIS. They are all part of the same planning process. It is concluded that there are a lot of problems if you try to separate MISs and RTPs.
