Abstract:

The purpose of this paper is to present an overview of how maintenance has been historically managed and controlled within a transportation agency. Activities considered are: organizational structure; resource allocation of staff and equipment; other management systems interfacing with the maintenance management system; current maintenance management concepts; prime functions of maintenance management; and maintenance quality evaluations.
