Availability: Find a library where document is available Abstract: This article reports draft proposals from the European Committee for Normalization (CEN) Technical Committee (TC) 226, Working Group 1 (WG1), which was entrusted with the standardization of safety barriers, crash cushions, and, in a general way, road restraint systems. Performance classes for safety barriers are to be determined by the following: (1) Containment Levels; (2) Impact Severity Levels; and (3) Deformation of the Restraint Systems. The proposed performance classes for crash cushions are generally similar to the NCHRP 350 matrix of test criteria.
