Abstract:

The purpose of this paper, which appears in a compendium of conference papers, is to explain an approach used to model freight movements in a large rural study area. The study was conducted in Washington State for the Quad County Regional Transportation Organization. Traditional urban transportation planning techniques were applied in a new way to perform detailed analysis of freight movements. In addition, quick response methods enabled the project to be completed within a 6-month time frame at a lower cost.

Supplemental Notes:

Additional support was provided by the Puget Sound Regional Council and King County, Washington.
