Abstract:

This report provides a summary of commercial aviation in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) since the dissolution of the USSR. The conclusion is that the restructuring associated with the transition to a market economy has produced a 20-year recovery period. Subjects discussed are the fragmenting of Aeroflot, air traffic control, and the organization of civil aviation activities.
