Availability: Find a library where document is available Abstract: This report has three purposes: (1) to present the research findings of current practices of incorporating maintenance concerns in highway designs, (2) to recommend a design process that will achieve recognition of the maintenance implications of each design, and (3) to list and describe design details that create maintenance problems and improvements to overcome them. Data were collected from 53 highway agencies--42 states, 7 provinces, 2 counties, 1 regional agency, and the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
