For this purpose, a technical committee has been created -- the TC 226. At its first meeting in April 1990, the TC 226 entrusted the Working Group I with the standardization of safety barriers, crash cushions, and general road restraint systems. This paper is aimed at recalling the European objective and summing up the work already completed by the WGI after one year of activity.
