Abstract:

In view of an international harmonization of highway safety standards, it is difficult to find an agreement on a single common severity criterion. This paper reports an investigation on the differences and the analogies of two among the most common criteria. The research is carried on by means of simple models, and verified with 15 very reliable crash test data. Interesting correlations are found, that may open the way to a better understanding of the problem and, hopefully, to the development of new findings.
