Abstract: State highway departments and transportation agencies have a continuing need to keep abreast of operating practices and legal elements of special problems in highway law. This report deals with the legal and procedural issues that public officials face in administering relocation assistance programs for the acquisition of land for transportation projects. A comprehensive analysis of these issues is provided. This paper will be included in a future addendum to "Selected Studies in Highway Law," published by the Transportation Research Board.
