Title: RESEARCH PROBLEM STATEMENTS--OPERATIONAL EFFECTS OF GEOMETRICS
Accession Number: 00385673
Record Type: Component
Availability: Find a library where document is available Abstract: Seven research problem statements evaluated by the Transportation Research Board Committee A3A08, Operational Effects of Geometrics, are published in this circular. The committee received eight such statements which were evaluated for pecieved importance, for hypothetical resource allocation, and for probility of success. The problem statements are as follows: Relation of Roadway and Intersection Geometircs to signal coordination; Traffic Operational and Safety Effects of the Interaction of Lane and Shoulder Width: Effectiveness of Roadside Design Improvements on Horizontal Curves; Four-Lane Undivided Highways as an Alternative to Two-Lane and Four-Lane Divided Designs; Geometric Design Requirements for Low-Speed Maneuvers; Geometric Design and Operational Problems Associated with Turning Roadways at Rural Intersections; and Roadway Design for Pickups and Vans. Each Statement describes the problem, the objectives of the proposed research, other related work in the literature, the urgency/priority, cost and time estimates, the potential uses of the research findings, implementation of the findings, and the potential effectiveness of the findings.
