Title: RISE AND FALL OF RURAL PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION
Accession Number: 00349737
Record Type: Component
Availability: Find a library where document is available Abstract: The long process of developing a viable program of federal aid to help overcome rural transportation problems is reviewed. Despite its successes, the Section 18 program (the Urban Mass Transportation Act of 1964) is now under attack. A series of proposals have been advanced that would effectively destroy the program's usefulness and, ultimately, the program itself. Unless the important decision makers can be made aware of crucial rural transportation interests, the Section 18 program may be emasculated by the budget cutters.
