Title: ISSUES IN DEVELOPING CONTINGENCY PLANS FOR INTERCITY FREIGHT
Accession Number: 00330099
Record Type: Component
Availability: Find a library where document is available Abstract: This paper discusses two problems encountered by the trucking industry with DOE's contingency plans: (a) DOE's failure to recognize the critical position motor carriers have in the nation's economy, and (b) DOE's failure to recognize the variety of fuel-purchasing patterns. After pointing out some remedial actions that might be taken, we are reminded that at the present time the only way it appears for a carrier to get supplies is to demonstrate repeatedly what happens when trucks do not roll. Several examples are given.
