This compendium is a product of a 3-year project to enhance rural transportation in developing countries by providing improved access to existing information on the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of low-volume roads. The blending of various sizes of gravel material into a well-graded dense mix is called mechanical or granular stabilization and is the subject of this compendium.
