Accession Number: 00148362
Record Type: Component
Availability: Find a library where document is available Abstract: This paper summarizes the annual quantities of fly ash, bottom ash, and boiler slag recently produced by major electric utilities in the United States and makes projections for future production. Similar date for England are also presented. Available data on the chemical, index, and engineering properties of these materials and on the use of fly ash, bottom ash, and boiler slag by the construction industry in the United States and England are presented. Since the use of fly ash as a highway embankment fill material in the United States appears to be extremely promising, the paper describes several projects in the United States, England, and Scotland in which large quantities of fly ash have been used successfully and economically.
