Title: SYSTEMS ASPECTS IN EDUCATION FOR TRANSPORTATION
Accession Number: 00083152
Record Type: Component
Availability: Find a library where document is available Abstract: A discussion of the meaning of systems analysis or systems engineering as it applies to transportation is given. The task of a systems analyst is as much to synthesize as it is to analyze, but the emphasis is upon the latter. The author suggests and discusses essential areas in transportation education: knowledge of physical and social sciences; understanding of the technological system, its components and operation; comprehension of the process of design, or in essence, systems analysis. A multidisciplinary faculty is an essential part of such a comprehensive program. Also necessary is a comfortable location within the university structure, somewhere between the economic and engineering department.
