Abstract:

THE ADVANTAGES OF USING COMPUTER SYSTEMS TO CONTROL DISPLAY SIGNS, PARTICULARLY TRAFFIC CONTROL, ARE ENUMERATED. REFLECTIVE LIGHT REDUCES OPERATING AND MAINTENANCE COSTS BY UTILIZING A REFLECTIVE DISK-- A LIFE SPAN OF APPROXIMATELY 20 MILLION OPERATIONS ELIMINATES THE NEED FOR LIGHT BULBS AND HIGH POWER CONSUMPTION. REMOTE CONTROL IS ACHIEVED VIA TELEPHONE LINES FOR EITHER A COMPUTER OR TELETYPE MACHINE. SOLID STATE CONTROL EQUIPMENT OFFERS RELIABILITY AND VERSATILITY. SIZE AND FORMAT ARE FLEXIBLE IN THE CHARACTERS 4.2, 12, 18, AND 42 IN. IN HEIGHT AND STANDARD COLOR CODES ARE AVAILABLE.
