THE 9-FOOT, 3-PASSENGER CAR HAS AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE JOINED TO AN ELECTRIC MOTOR FOR USE IN SPECIFIED TRAFFIC SITUATIONS; IT ALSO INCORPORATES OTHER ADVANCED DESIGN CONCEPTS. THE VEHICLE EMPLOYS EXISTING PARKING FACILITIES AND TRAFFIC WAYS, INCREASING THEIR UTILIZATION BY ABOUT 125% AND 30--70%, RESPECTIVELY, WITHIN THE CBD. APPLICATIONS FOR THE TRIP-TO- WORK AND RAPID TRANSIT FEEDING ARE DISCUSSED. CBD AND NON- CBD DEMAND ANALYSES ARE MADE AND RELATED TO DIVERSION TO AND FROM OTHER MODES. THE ADVANTAGES, BENEFITS, POTENTIAL PROBLEMS, AND DRAWBACKS OF THE MINICAR SYSTEM ARE EVALUATED.
