THIS PAPER DESCRIBES THE TOPOGRAPHY AND CLIMATE OF SWITZERLAND IN RELATION TO ROAD DESIGN. DEVELOPMENT IN HIGHWAY TECHNOLOGY, PARTICULARLY DURING THE LAST 20 YEARS, IS TRACED.
