TYPES OF SUCH EXPANSION ASSEMBLIES USED IN THE PAST ARE REVIEWED, THEIR PERFORMANCE STUDIED AND THE METHODS USED IN REPAIRING DEFECTS OUTLINED. FROM THE EXPERIENCE GAINED WITH THESE EARLIER EXPANSION ASSEMBLIES, IMPROVEMENTS HAVE BEEN MADE AND THE TYPES CURRENTLY IN USE ARE DESCRIBED. /AUTHOR/
