Accession Number: 00229646
Record Type: Component
Abstract: THE ENGINEERING SOIL SURVEY OF NEW JERSEY BY THE JOINT HIGHWAY RESEARCH PROJECT AT RUTGERS UNIVERSITY CONCENTRATED ITS EARLY EFFORTS IN AREAS WHERE THE PARENT MATERIAL OF THE SOIL IS EITHER RESIDUAL OR GLACIAL. RECENTLY, ATTENTION HAS BEEN DIRECTED TO THE ATLANTIC COASTAL PLAIN PROVINCE. THE TECHNIQUES OF AIR-PHOTO INTERPRETATION AND THEIR APPLICATION IS THIS AREA ARE HEREIN DESCRIBED. EMPHASIS IS PLACED ON THE DIFFERENCES IN IMPORTANCE OF THE VARIOUS BASIC PRINCIPLES OF AIRPHOTO INTERPRETATION IN THE COASTAL PLAIN AS CONTRASTED WITH THOSE OF RESIDUAL OR GLACIAL AREAS. SEVERAL MAP UNITS ARE DESCRIBED AND SOIL TEST DATA FOR EACH IS INCLUDED. /AUTHOR/
