Abstract:

Five issues relating to hazardous material transportation regulation were discussed at the workshop. The issues are as follows: the purpose of hazardous materials regulations; the process of the regulations; the enforcement and compliance with the regulations; governmental, private sector, and international relationships; and regulatory simplification and classification. Options are offered for recommended policy statements.
