Availability: Find a library where document is available Abstract: Concerns identified as important in hazardous materials transportation training are listed, as are also controversial questions related to such training. The problems of designing and carrying out high-quality programs may be complex involving also, questions of learning theory. Most jobs in the hazardous materials field require both preservice and in-service training. Comments are made on planning for comprehensive hazardous materials training. Performance measurements and standardized curriculums are discussed. It is noted that both the public and private sectors should consider a coordinated program of public education to both reduce the number and severity of incidents and to highlight by steps being taken to increase safety.
