Abstract:

THE THEORETICAL ANALYSIS IS BASED ON TIMOSHENKO'S WORK; THE ENTIRE ANALYSIS ASSUMES THAT ALL OF THE LOAD IS TRANSMITTED TO THE POINT OF THE PILE. THE PILE IS HINGED AT BOTH ENDS. CONCERNING THE RESISTANCE OF THE SURROUNDING MEDIUM, IT WAS ASSUMED THAT A MODULUS OF FOUNDATION EXISTS AND THAT A NUMERICAL VALUE FOR THIS MODULUS CAN BE DETERMINED BY FIELD TESTS.
