Abstract:

A practical and workable technique for preparing freight forecasts, which may be used in addressing freight-related problems at the state or subregional level, is described. The flexibility of the overall approach and technique is demonstrated by examples of the use of the technique drawn from two recent studies. The structure of the process involved in using and adapting the technique is described. The importance of following prudent and pragmatic research principles is emphasized. Special attention is given to providing detailed information on each of the components of the technique. (Author)
