The major contribution of our model is that the structure of the route set is modified to improve the flexibility of rerouting operations. To improve the computational performance, we employed reformulation-linearization techniques to turn the model into a linear integer programming model, and we propose two sets of valid inequalities to speed up the computation process. The computational results indicated that the optimal strategies for flights can be efficiently obtained for large-scale instances.
