Abstract:

The Automated Data Access and Analysis System (ADAAS) is a set of computer files to look at a variety of highway safety problems. About 250 different accident and other files are maintained in the system. Several national data sources are available and include the National Accident Sampling System, Fatal Accident Reporting System, National Crash Severity Study, Truck Inventory and Use Survey, National Personal Transportation Study, and Bureau of Motor Carrier Safety. The ADASS may be compared to a library of information where the data sets are comparable to the books. However, the ADASS can respond with information more precisely tailored to the user's needs than the library can.
