Abstract:

The purpose of this paper is to report on two methods of salvaging old concrete pavement by resurfacing and comparing the performance behavior of these two methods to new construction on a project built in 1957. These data are compiled on a section of US 83 in Taylor County, Texas. The project consisted of grading, structures, flexible base, and hot mix asphalt concrete (HMAC) surfacing. Photographic documentation and certain data were accumulated on such items as construction costs, maintenance costs, and pavement serviceability.
