Abstract:
This brief articles discusses the role of three organizations, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), and the Transportation Research Board (TRB), in promoting tunnel technology and safety to the highway community. These organizations advance policies, specifications, guidance, and technologies through cooperative meetings, workshops, webinars, and publications, as well as through strategic planning and research to foster innovation, technology transfer, and the accelerated deployment of cost-effective safety technologies.
