Title: RELOCATION AND REAL PROPERTY ACQUISITION
Accession Number: 00335312
Record Type: Monograph
Availability: Find a library where document is available Abstract: In 1970, the US Congress passed the Uniform Relocation Assistance and Real Property Acquisition Policies Act in order to remedy confusing, sometimes frustrating and frequently bewildering arrays of federal and local rules and regulations relating to acquisition and relocation for federally funded projects. Since passage of that act, there are still many concerns about the differences in procedures and the manner in which the act is administered by the states and the various federal agencies. The purpose of this conference is to examine the experiences of federal, state and local officials in implementing relocation and real property acquisition programs; to identify problems and to suggest approaches to solving these problems and improving the effectiveness of the legislation. Some of the areas covered are considerations for greater uniformity in benefits and procedures; expanded eligibility; adequate payments and improved relocation assistance services.
