Title: RELOCATION AND REAL PROPERTY ACQUISITION IMPLEMENTATION BY COUNTIES
Accession Number: 00335147
Record Type: Component
Availability: Find a library where document is available Abstract: Problems encountered in the implementation of the 1970 Uniform Relocation Assistance and Property Acquisition Act are recounted. The need for trained personnel to administer the Act is noted. This includes personnel with legal expertise, appraisers, negotiations, and personnel for residential and business relocation assistance. The Illinois State Department of Transportation has assisted local agencies in complying with federal requirements. Reduction in costs of acquisition may be realized if local agencies are allowed to acquire property valued at less than $5,000 without a certified appraiser. It is noted that there is no fair and equitable method of compating losses of business or disruption of cash flow of business establishments.
