Title:

Modelling the Perception of Sharpness for Horizontal Curves

Accession Number:

01716788

Record Type:

Component

Abstract:

The purpose of this study is to understand the driver's perception of road geometry, as it plays a significant role in driving. The aim here is to shed light on the driver's ability to distinguish the sharpness of varying curves, and this is achieved by accomplishing four major objectives, as follows: (1) Study the perception of change in sharpness; (2) Identify the major influencing geometric factors in curve sharpness perception; (3) Compare the accuracy of perception between professional and non-professional drivers; and (4) Develop a perception model for change in circular curve geometry.
