Title:

Assessing Satisfaction Levels of Bus Users and Monetizing Their Travel Time

Accession Number:

Record Type:

Component

Abstract:

This study presents the level of service (LOS) thresholds for overall satisfaction ratings of city bus riders based on selected service quality factors. The authors of this study consider service quality factors to cover service-related factors, infrastructure related factors, and travel characteristics. These thresholds can also be used for evaluating the satisfaction levels of bus riders under mixed traffic conditions in developing countries like India. These LOS thresholds are applicable for assessing satisfaction levels of users pertaining to bus transit systems under mixed traffic conditions, where dedicated bus lanes do not exist. The present study also attempts to monetize the travel time spent by Mumbai city bus users, which adds novelty to the state of the art of the literature.
