Title: Improving the equivalent temperature gradient estimation procedure for mechanistic concrete pavement design: a poromechanical drying shrinkage modeling approach
Accession Number: 01698870
Record Type: Component
Abstract: This study examined the process to develop a model for poromechanistic drying shrinkage and equivalent temperature difference for jointed plain concrete pavement slabs (JPCP). Since JPCP slabs dry from the top down, they are often subject to drying shrinkage and upward warping. The model analyzed various mixture designs and climatic zones in the United States, and the results were compared to the predictions from AASHTOWare PavementME. The results suggested that the newly developed model was more sensitive than PavementME, and the authors recommended further validation.
