Title: Systematic Literature Review on Inter-Terminal Transportation
Accession Number: 01658465
Record Type: Component
Abstract: The flow of containers worldwide has increased due to containerization, which has been widely adopted as a transportation means since the introduction of the container. Few literature review studies that have been presented had focused on a comprehensive review or classification on terminal operations and container transportation. This review study specifically focuses on container terminal transportation while previous studies covered a broader scope of multimodal transportation. Additionally, these studies do not consider some properties of terminals and vehicles that the authors have considered in this study. By applying the systematic literature review method the searches resulted in identifying 2662 articles. Basic inclusion criteria were applied to refine the search results of search queries. From 2662 articles, 2267 were excluded by applying basic criteria with the help of filter options given on databases, e.g., language, publication year, and study area. Furthermore, exclusion of 214 articles by reading article titles resulted in 181 articles, out of which 49 articles were excluded by reading abstracts. Therefore, the authors identified 132 articles after applying basic inclusion criteria on search results. In the next stage, 62 duplicate studies were filtered out. Finally, detailed inclusion/exclusion criteria were applied on the identified 70 studies. It resulted in selection of 38 relevant primary studies.
