Title: The Effect of Social Group on Pedestrian Node Selection Behavior in Subway Stations
Accession Number: 01656840
Record Type: Component
Abstract: The node selection behavior of pedestrian has been studied in various fields. Influence factors including pedestrian, environment as well as interaction characteristics have been considered, while the effect of social group on pedestrian node selection behavior is seldom researched. In this study, the concepts of node selection behavior and social group are specified in order to determine the research boundary and recognize the group in crowds quantitatively. A field survey lasting for five days was carried out in Beijing West Station of Beijing Subway, then 5014 sets of node selection data and 500 sets of trajectory data were extracted from the video. Analysis results indicate that the group size composition subjects to different distributions in different environments, and social group has significant effects on node selection results, patterns of spatial group organization, walking distance and trajectory, as well as node selection time.
