This compendium assists those in developing countries concerned with the classification and location of materials used in road construction by providing pertinent documentation which might otherwise not be readily obtainable on soils classification and engineering. The literature assembled herein examines the topic from two perspectives: that of a project inventory concerned with the exact location and development of materials to be used on a specific road construction project, as well as that of a general inventory of materials available throughout a large geographic area for use in the planning and evaluation of future highway locations.
