Abstract:

This issue contains 22 papers concerning socioeconomics, sustainability, health, and human factors. Specific topics covered are as follows: economic impacts of rail transit on recreational shore communities; impact of transportation on economic growth in China; assessment of broader economic benefits from transportation investment in Maryland; households' housing and transportation expenditures; and peak car travel in the United States. The issue also covers high-occupancy toll lane decision making; user acceptance and willingness to pay for connected vehicle technologies; assessing the vulnerability, resilience, and transportation affordability of higher fuel price scenarios; and information and communication technology and social travel among young adults. Additional topics include transit oriented development residents and sustainable modes of transportation; travel and emissions analysis of sustainable transportation policies; building a metaframework for sustainable transport indicators; and performance measurement system for transportation sustainability and community livability.
