GEOLOGY AND CONCERN FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

Accession Number:

Record Type:

Abstract:

GEOLOGISTS ARE WELL PREPARED TO CONTRIBUTE TO LAND USE PLANNING BY MAKING INVENTORIES OF THE NATURAL FACTORS THAT MUST BE CONSIDERED BY PLANNERS. THIS REPORT LISTS SOME OF THE DATA THAT SHOULD BE COLLECTED AND IN WHAT FORM THE DATA SHOULD BE PRESENTED. THE PRESENTATION TECHNIQUES ARE IMPORTANT IN THAT THEY MAKE GEOLOGIC REPORTS MORE INTELLIGIBLE, AND HENCE MORE USEFUL, TO NON-GEOLOGISTS. CASE HISTORIES ARE REPORTED THAT SHOW THE NEED FOR GREATER UNDERSTANDING OF THE PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT AND THAT ILLUSTRATE SOME OF THE BENEFITS TO BE REALIZED BY INVENTORIES ON THE NATURAL RESOURCE BASE.
