Abstract: CHICAGO'S CROSS TOWN EXPRESSWAY STUDY WAS CONDUCTED TO: (1) DESIGN THE CROSS TOWN EXPRESSWAY TO BE A QUALITY HIGHWAY, (2) DESIGN THE EXPRESSWAY AND ITS ENVIRONS TO IMPLEMENT THE CITY'S PLANS THE FUTURE, AND (3) RECOMMEND METHODS FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE EXPRESSWAY AND ITS ENVIRONS. CHICAGO IS ATTEMPTING TO ESTABLISH NEW STANDARDS FOR OTHER URBAN COMMUNITIES TO EMULATE BY PROVIDING: (1) DECENT HOUSING FOR EVERY FAMILY, (2) SLUM REMOVAL, (3) POVERTY ELIMINATION, (4) ACHIEVE A BALANCED TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM, (5) TERMINATE CRIME, (6) NOURISH QUALITY EDUCATION FOR ALL, (7) EFFECT EQUAL OPPORTUNITY AND EMPLOYMENT, (8) SECURE BETTER HEALTH SERVICES, AND (9) STIMULATE ADEQUATE RECREATIONAL DEVELOPMENT.
