Abstract:

This issue contains 13 papers regarding geomaterials. The papers are organized in three parts. The first part is concerned with aggregates in concrete mixtures and reclaimed asphalt pavements. Topics in this part include: recycled concrete aggregates; blast furnace slag; blending and chemical stabilization; and coarse aggregate durability. The second part is concerned with the innovative characterization of geomaterials. Specific topics include: aggregate imaging for morphological characterization; segmentation and image processing algorithms for aggregate size and shape evaluation; analytical and laser scanning for aggregate shape determination; in situ erosion evaluation probes for scour assessment; shear wave velocity measurement to link soil strain behaviors; laboratory compaction of reclaimed asphalt pavement; and soil stiffness assessment. The third part is concerned with unbound pavement layers. It addresses mechanical behavior, moisture-sensitivity, and stress-dependence.
