Abstract:

An evaluation of bridge quality is important to plan maintenance activities, take correct maintenance countermeasures, and ensure the safety of bridge services. To help fulfill the requirements for the management of high-grade maintenance of highway bridges, a comprehensive evaluation system of bridge maintenance quality is presented. The system consists of a method to evaluate bridge condition and road–bridge adaptability. On the basis of expert survey results, weights for all indices were calculated. A highway category correction factor illustrates the significance of bridges located at various highway grades. A comprehensive evaluation model for bridge maintenance quality was designed. A ranking of criteria and maintenance countermeasures is presented. An example to validate the model is illustrated on the basis of the contrast between the evaluation results derived from the models and the experts, respectively.
