EVIDENCE IS PRESENTED TO INDICATE THAT AN EDTA TITRATION UNDER CONTROLLED CONDITIONS OFFERS IMPROVED PRECISION AND ACCURACY OVER THE PRESENTLY ACCEPTED CALIFORNIA METHOD FOR THE DETERMINATION OF THE CEMENT CONTENT OF CEMENT- TREATED BASE MATERIALS. EXCLUSIVE OF SAMPLE PREPARATION TIME , THE NEW METHOD PERMITS A COMPLETE DETERMINATION IN 5 MIN OR LESS AS OPPOSED TO 1 HR OR MORE FOR THE CALIFORNIA METHOD . THE NEW PROCEDURE UTILIZES AMMONIUM CHLORIDE FOR THE SOLVENT SYSTEM, THE DISODIUM SALT OF EDTA AS TITRANT, AND HYDROXYNAPHTHOL BLUE AS INDICATOR. /AUTHOR/
