Title:

Constrained Soil Modulus for Crushed Rock: Test Data and Correlation to Installed Pipe

Accession Number:

01367672

Record Type:

Component

Abstract:

This paper presents constrained modulus test data for three types of crushed rock. The paper describes the test procedure and test apparatus used to determine the constrained modulus. Test data from five types of crushed rock and a total of 27 test conditions are also presented in the paper. Next the paper presents the performance characteristics of pipe installed with crushed rock similar to crushed rock evaluated in the constrained modulus laboratory testing. Third, the paper presents calculations which correlate the installed performance of pipe to the analytically predicted performance using the newly derived constrain modulus values from the test method outlined in this report. Lastly this paper summarizes the findings and makes recommendations for the reader.
