Abstract:

This paper presents the modernization method of old damaged bridges with the short and medium effective spans. As the reinforcement was used the shell structure made from the corrugated steel plates (CSP). The conclusions drawn from the examples reinforcement can be helpful mostly for the assessment of the behaviour of such a type of composite bridge structures (consists of old bridge and new steel shell structure plus fill). In consideration of an ever more frequent application of this type of structure for small and middle-sized road and railway bridges, conclusions from the paper can be generalized to the whole class of such structural solutions.
