Abstract:

This paper describes a study on travelers’ evaluation of a shopping centers’ access. Using an Internet based questionnaire, residents of the city of Eindhoven, The Netherlands were asked to evaluate the access of a regional shopping center. The evaluation covered not only three different transport modes (car, bicycle, and bus) but also different aspects of transport mode related facilities such as number of parking spaces, quality of bicycle paths, and location of bus stops. The collected data were analyzed using multinomial logistic regression. It appears that the evaluation scores of the various transport modes are mainly influenced by evaluation scores of different aspects of transport facilities and some personal and trip related characteristics.
