Abstract:
This paper provides a broad overview of air quality concerns in Ada County, Idaho, and recommends a series of modifications and enhancements to existing air quality maintenance and improvement programs both in Ada County and the surrounding area. The purpose of these recommendations is to establish a proactive stance on behalf of area residents' health and local government agencies charged with maintaining air quality. These recommendations, if implemented, promise to: 1. Maintain healthy air quality throughout the Treasure Valley; 2. Minimize impacts on the general public of current and proposed air quality control measures; and 3. Retain control of air quality programs by Treasure Valley local governments rather than abdicating future program direction to state or federal agencies.
