Abstract:

This paper discusses the scheduling problem of two-transtainer system. In the problem, two transtainers are operating in two different container blocks at the same time to support the loading operations of one quay crane. A mathematical model is developed to formulate the problem. In the model, both the visiting sequences and the number of containers picked up at each visit of the two transtainers are decided simultaneously so that the total loading time is minimized. A revised Genetic Algorithm is developed to solve the proposed model and the performance of the algorithm is tested through numerical examples.
