Availability: Find a library where document is available Abstract: This conference presentation discusses smart growth in the town of Marana, which is a suburb of the city of Tucson and is the second-largest urban growth area within the state of Arizona. Two issues are focused on: the environment and transportation. Concerning the environmental issue, Marana is home to the cactus ferruginous pygmy owl, an endangered species. Growth in the critical habitat areas is forecast to be a maximum of 20% disturbance. Concerning the transportation planning efforts, there are a number of institutional issues, including the highway user revenue fund and transit.
