Abstract:

This article introduces this issue of TR News, which highlights approaches to address transportation problems in national parks, wildlife refuges, recreation areas, and other public lands. The activities of the Transportation Research Board Task Force on Transportation Needs of National Parks and Public Lands, which is working to encourage collaborative efforts to examine and address transportation needs in national parks and public lands and to preserve the sites and serve visitors, are briefly discussed.
